Delegation from Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) has visited RTDA

Kigali - The delegation composed of 12 people from Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) visited Rwanda Transport Development Agency on Wednesday April 27, 2016. The purpose of this visit was to learn from Rwanda Public Procurement system, and exchange on work experience, especially learning on how Rwanda is managing the procurement and contract for large projects

The delegation led by Mr. Tumbul K. DANSO, Director General of Gambia Public Procurement Authority was received by a team led by Olivier KABERA, the Coordinator of Single Project Implementation (SPIU).


In his welcoming remarks, the Coordinator of Single Project Implementation (SPIU) gave a brief overview of RTDA mission, programs and projects aimed at developing transport infrastructure in Rwanda in line with national planning tools. He wished a pleasant stay to the Gambia delegation in Rwanda and emphasized the need to have a long-term and strong collaboration between sisters organizations from Gambia and Rwanda.


On behalf of the Gambia delegation, Mr. Tumbul K. DANSO introduced his colleagues and expressed their gratitude to the Government of Rwanda for the warm welcome extended to their team. He further thanked RTDA management for the meeting arrangements and stressed their enthusiasm to learn from Rwanda experience in regards to procurement of transport related projects.

A presentation on Procurement and contract management for large projects was made by Eng, Imena MUNYAMPENDA, who is a project Engineer and Vice Chairman of Internal Tender Committee in RTDA. He briefly introduced the legal status of RTDA, procurement rules and regulations, experiences in contract management as well as challenges and solutions.


The presentations was followed by a set of questions and answers as well as experience and knowledge sharing between the two teams. The visit ended on a high note as the Gambia delegation was leading to other public institutions to also gather their experience in managing public programs.
