RTDA hosts Kampala Capital City Authority delegation for a study visit on public transport strategies and initiatives in Rwanda
Kigali, July 9 2025, Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA) hosted a study visit by Kampala Capital City Authority delegation aimed at sharing expertise and best practices in public transport in Rwanda.

The delegation explored RTDA’s strategies, programs and initiatives to develop public transport services within the country such as; Electronic Ticketing Systems for inter–city buses and Automated Fare Collection which is used in buses in the CoK, also highlighted on the high-capacity buses that were introduced to replace the smaller minibuses, improving passenger capacity and service efficiency and introduction of electric buses.
By sharing Rwanda’s experience and implementation of programs and policies for public transport, RTDA management highlighted on the collaboration mechanism from RTDA with the Ministry of Infrastructure, regulatory agencies and public transport operators in maintaining quality public transport/bus services in Rwanda from informal, low capacity to organized, regulated, planned and prioritized, as well as electrification of buses that will lead to green, intelligent mass transit & globally competitive.

RTDA continues its mission to gain modern infrastructure, cost effective and quality services, while ensuring sustainable economic growth and developing eco-friendly, safe and seamless integrated multimodal transport system for passenger and goods both at national and regional level.
